TikTok continues to gain popularity and companies that want to stay current with their social strategy and target younger demographics should be eager to add it into their repertoire! If you’re just getting started on the platform, here are a few things that we think you should keep in mind.

The best way to learn is by doing

TikTok has been popular for a few years at this point, which means you’ll come across accounts that produce amazing content! But remember, everybody started with no experience, and you can’t compare your first day to someone else’s third year. Don’t get discouraged if your TikToks aren’t always perfect, just keep learning day by day and don’t give up!

Don’t take it too seriously

As a business, it can be really tempting to make everything perfect and always promote your newest products. While platforms like TikTok are great for this type of content, they’re also made to entertain! People connect to fun and relatable brands, so use TikTok to show your companies fun and silly side. Duolingo is a company that did a great job of doubling down on humour and getting incredible results.

Engage with others

Just because a lot of people have skyrocketed their follower growth by posting fun content, doesn’t mean they weren’t doing a lot of other work to grow their accounts! Engagement is the key to building a real and loyal community. Make sure that you spend some time liking, commenting, and sharing other people’s content to show your support to other creators!

Promote yourself

If you’re serious about growing your TikTok account, don’t be shy about promoting yourself! It’s a common practice to encourage others to like your post and follow your account for more content. So, put yourself out there and say something along the lines of “Like this if you want to see the second part of this video!” or “Follow me for more tips that will save you time!”.

Consistency is the key to growth

If you’ve read some of our other blogs, we might sound like a broken record, but almost nothing matters as much as staying consistent on your social accounts! You don’t have to post 5 times a day to grow (though it seems to work for some people), but it is important to post at regular intervals! This helps your account be seen as a valuable user to any platform, including TikTok and is a critical part to a social marketing strategy.
